You go girl!

I'm sure you have seen the Susan Boyle video from Britain's Got Talent. If not, click on the link above, the 7 minute video will do you some good, trust me.

Back already?

Good, strap in because here we go.

First, let me say I have seen that clip several times now and every time it brings me to tears. Why? Because I remember being Susan Boyle, without the talent. I remember middle school and high school and college all to well and I remember all the sniggers because I was too tall or too breasty or too fat or too whatever-everyone-else wasn't. Those feelings were revisited on me when Susan Boyles got up to sing and an entire audience doubted her because of the way she looks.

Brava, Susan Boyle from the gal who had chocolate milk poured over her head in middle school and won the "Ugliest Girl" contest in college. Brava.

I Dreamed A Dream
There was a time, when men were kind
And their voices were soft
And their words were inviting
There was a time, when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving

Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they turn your hope apart
As they turn your dreams to shame

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my dreams with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'd come to me
That we would live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from the hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
