Updates

Hello Reader!

Just a quickie to let you know I am going to be updating my blog reader thingiemapoo on the left side of my blog. I will be removing some links and adding in new ones. So if you springboard from here to someone else's blog - ya might want to add it to your favorites because I can't guarantee your favorite link will be here when I get all done revamping.

Kitchens 'n Republicans

You may remember my sis-in-law Little Martha Stewart had a blog a while back and after saying she was going to simplify her blog, she deleted it which she said was the epitome of simplicity and I for one have missed her. Well, miss no more because she has started a new blog The Red Door Kitchen and I know this one will be just as good as her last - so stop by and send her some love.

I don't know if I ever shared my memorial tattoo with all y'alls before but here it is:

About a month after Mom died I got it in honor of her. Elephants. On my fluffy body. Whodathunkit. This from the gal who wouldn't buy a cute rain coat once because the inside lining had a whale design on it and I didn't want any smart comments about the whale wearing a whale. Hardee Har Har. Not.

So I went to see my Endocrinologist last week. And guess who has a 6.9 A1c? That's right. ME! Y'all can snoopy dance with me! Opps, I digressed which is so unlike me. Ahem. The doctor has me hop up on the table and he pulls the leg rest out and notices my tattoo:

Dr: Are you a Republican?
Mrs. Oh: Huh....ohhhhhh, heck no. *finally realizing he is looking at my tattoo* That's for my Mom....who was neither a Republican nor an Elephant
Dr: *looks at me funny* Then why the elephants?
Mrs. Oh: Because Mom loved elephants.

I'm sure he thinks I am insane now. Like he didn't before. But it was pretty cool to have my elderly doctor give me a high-five because I slashed my A1c in half. Yes half. Don't judge.

The Senior Boys

Chewie went to homecoming. Not stag but with a girl. But it wasn't a date they say. I'll post some pictures later in the week. I have been working on these collages and much to my chagrin I had to do them all in Photoshop and despite what June and Joann think - my PS skills don't rock but my go-to photo program is not working so what is a gal to do?

Oh and by the by or Bye the Bye....I won blog of the week over at June's for my massacre of poor Hulk who was so humiliated he immediately went out shopping. Ok. I feel a tad guilty. Ok. Not really - after seeing those Hawaiian shirts the Hulkster was sporting I figured it was my duty. Anyways - back to the collages:

Nappy - the casual shots. Ignore that it says Jacob on the bottom - his name is Nappy....

Chewie - the casual shots. Same thing with his name...ignore the Benjamin thing. Did I mention that Ben er Chewie got a haircut for homecoming. He hasn't had one since these pictures were taken back in August. He was sportin' a nice Luke N Laura curly afro look and now he is all shorn. High and tight. 3510. And to my Mom: it wasn't my fault. I didn't even take him. This was his doing. Not mine.

I'll be posting a tour de Halloween this week. Come back won'tcha?

P.S.

Can we actually P.S in a blog? Anywho. P.S. When looking for that link about Mom and haircuts I did a blog search and man alive do I blog a lot about 'mom'....yesterday I missed her so much - she would have loved to have seen Chewie all spiffy for homecoming.

Hulk Edition: Rerobed

June over at Bye Bye, Pie! has asked for some help in the disrobing and subsequent rerobing of her friend and frequent commenter Hulk. It probably would be best for you to read her post first...I'll wait.

Hulk seems to enjoy his sportswear. When it comes to sportswear there really is only one sport and that is baseball and only one team: the White Sox.

Here we have the Hulk modeling the Shoeless Joe Jackson look. While some may find the look a little dated...I think it is timeless and being the man we all know Hulk is - he can pull it off.

As for dinner attire I would always recommend the classic tuxedo as modeled by the Hulk above. Additionally this look works well just in case he finds himself in need of invading a foreign country and/or the need to talk into a shoe phone. You just can't pull that off with jeans and a tee.

It is nice to know the Hulk attends church and has some goin' to meetin' clothes. However I think a man should try to differentiate himself while at church - currently Hulk could be mistaken for a Best Buy manager and not a faithful follower. In the above meetin' clothes no one would ever mistake Hulk's faith. Besides: Hasidic Hulk has a nice ring to it don'tcha think?

And while I was worried that maybe the Hulk wasn't Jewish and as not to offend anyone....Hulk can equally pull off the Dali Hulk look with ease. The nice thing about this outfit is that he can use it for church or any frat boy toga parties that may pop up. Being able to use all of your clothing articles for a variety of different occassions is paramount to being a saavy dresser in my opinion.

One thing Hulk did not share with us was his Victor's Secret lingerie items. And thank God too I might add. Here June and Hulk model the latest in Victor and Victoria's Not So Secrets. I can hear the marriage proposals coming in now for Hulk.

It might be too late...

As you may recall I won honorable mention over at June's Bye Bye, Pie Bee Gee's photo contest. I am beyond thrilled with my Cupcake Frosting Floss and Lip Balm! As you can see I take my dental hygiene seriously despite the fact it looks like I am flippin' the world off - that is just the way I floss folks and you can see that it really works for me!

So thanks June for my prizes. And remember folks see your dentist twice a year, you might want to see him more often if you are flossing with Cupcake floss though.

Mrs. Oh and the BeeJeez

So last night Simba caught a ride with us into Tampa for the Gospel meeting and while here she caught wind of my little project above. Can you believe the girl has NO idea who these guys were - before or after their feline facelifts. Tobey attempted to give her clues as I was calling out song titles and that was of little help as well.

Tobey signed the letter 'B' and then the letter 'G' and Simba answered: BeeJeez?? It sounded more like BuhJeez though which I thought was both hysterical and sad at the same time. I suppose I can't complain - she does know who Meat Loaf is and in the world of music that is all that really matters isn't it. Don't answer that.

Anyhoot.

June, or Dr. June as she is perferring to be called these days, is giving away a inflatable fruitcake to the first person who put her cat Henry onto Barry Gibb. Well not literally, photoshoppally that is. Be sure to see this version by another reader of hers - it is to die for funny. I would really love to win that fruitcake as I think it would make a lovely addition at my Christmas buffet. Well that really isn't the reason why I need that fruitcake. Joann over at the Laundry originally won the fruitcake and I think it would be a riot if I got it and if Joann and I ever do lunch....I'd bring that fruitcake to the Applebees and rub it in her face. Not literally of course. More like neener, neener. I know she really wants that fruitcake for her Christmas buffet too.

So I needed to send Dr. June my link and I couldn't find a way to contact her except through FaceBook. And shocked I was that her name actually isn't June. I have been reading her for close to two years and I never knew. But then again my last name isn't really Ohtobe so I guess we are even. Hopefully that person that dinged me once for using 'so' too many times isn't keeping track in this post. So. Anyways.

Hopefully I can keep Stayin' Alive here and win that fruitcake. I think it would be a Trajedy if I didn't. Maybe June will show me how Deep is Her Love for my picture and send me that fruitcake. I know that winning it will make me More Than a Woman and give me some serious Night Fever. So (ahem) go visit with June and Grease the wheels so I can win. And I ain't just Jive Talkin' here folks - I really want, need that dang fruitcake.

We had a blast!

Gail and I skipped out of of work around lunch time and after a map snafu - namely me forgetting the map - we were on the road to Orlando. We arrived around around 3 and were starving. Our initial plan was to grab a bite to eat but since there was already a short line we grabbed some Starbucks and got in line. And we are glad we did. We were about 27th in line and the last ones to get seats when we were moved upstairs. Needless to say: the line grew quickly.

Yeah I know I am 6' tall but really? Could I look anymore GI-NOR-MOUS. I need a body spanx suit! But there we all three are - PW, Gail and me.

I think this is when Gail was telling PW that she has a brand new kitchen! Gail that is - not PW.

And this is where I yelled something about how Gail doesn't even cook. Heck, I even asked Gail if this was the first cookbook she ever owned.

Here is our new friend Jackie with PW.

And this is where we were yelling at Jackie to turn around so we could see her and get a good picture of her with the PW. There was lots of yelling, good natured yelling though.

We all fell in love with this little guy. His parents drove down from Jacksonville for the signing.

PW and her girls. Dang me for not bringing my zoom lens.

Gail and Jackie!

Mrs. Oh.

Babies were everywhere...

And someone brought a huge inflatable horse...

We had such a great time and PW is just as wonderful in person as she comes across online. She does need to work on her Florida shoes though...flip flops are the cowboy boots of the Sunshine State.

A Sad Goodbye

Last night I received an email from Ree over at the Hotfessional saying she has deleted her blog for personal reasons and will not be blogging any more. I will miss her writings, her humor and her spot-on view of life. And while we have never met - I feel like a dear friend has moved away.

*sigh*

I am going to leave her link up on my blog list in the hopes that someday she changes her mind.

Are you skered too?

I love the People of Walmart site. Love, love, love it. But I am afraid my friends. Very afraid. That one day I will visit that site and there will be a picture of me on there. My fear stems from learning the other day that one of my coworkers saw me at Wal-Mart. And they didn't say hello.

They didn't say hello because I had no makeup on. Hadn't brushed my hair in God knows when and I can only imagine what I was wearing. So I think my fear is a valid one. Some day I will be one of those folks featured on People of Walmart.

Shopping aside though, remember our Movie Mondays? Whatever happened to those posts you may be wondering. Well, we (that being Tobey and I) haven't been to a movie since Star Trek came out. Movies for our family are a major undertaking and with popcorn, soda and JuJuBees the cost can dang near break the bank. A typical movie and snacks usually set us back by $80-$100.

Butter and Frodo did go see ZombieLand the other night and I am going to twist her arm ask her nicely to do another review for us in the next few days. I swear that girl is my most favorite daughter-in-law.

And finally: be sure to stop by and read Ree over at the Hotfessional and leave her a comment. She is donating .10 cents per comment for the month of October to her annual Save the Boobies Campaign. All proceeds are donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Great cause. Great gal. Great read.

Vermont: Delurked

Well folks it looks like it does pay to beg after all. My Vermont visitor, Alice, sent me a nice email with a picture of her and also this beautiful picture she took of Lake Memphemagog in Vermont. Of course I couldn't resist running it through Photoshop and I love that the colors are so varied and vibrant - truly amazing. I hope Alice doesn't mind my tweeking.

Introductions

As you can see on the left-hand side of my blog I have a blog list. This is more for my use than yours, as it is my daily reading list. Some of those blogs I have read for years, like Michelle over at Scribbit, others I have just found but loved them silly and added them to the links.

I have chosen a few blogs that I love and would like to introduce them to you, just in case you have never been to these wonderful ladies and guy's worlds. Go. I highly recommend them. Highly.

First up is Mama over at Life Is A Bone. Fortunately, I actually know Mama in real life, she is the love interest and abode-sharer of Rockin' Rob, a.k.a Papa from A Bad Backcast. Our families have gone camping together in the past and she is such a unique and gifted soul.

The first thing you will notice at the Bone is Mama's use of language. She can make opening a can of tuna fish an elegant adventure. Each of her posts are an intricately woven tapestry regarding life. I super-de-duper recommend you give her a read. My only problem with the Bone and it is probably more my problem than hers, is that I want dailies. I simply can not get enough. Ya hear that Mama: more, more, more! Post more! I mean seriously, you live with Papa, that alone should give you blog fodder for years and years.

My second selection is Ree over at The Hotfessional. Ree is one of those 'net gals that I wished lived next door or that she was a friend from work or just someone to lunch with. She makes me laugh til I cry or snort or both and sometimes both at the same time.

And finally you must visit with Matt over at Matt, Liz and Madelin. You may be aware of Matt's story as he and Maddie have been featured on Oprah. Matt's wife Liz died of an aneurysm shortly after giving birth to their daughter Maddie. His blog chronicles their lives and is filled with the joy and love of a father for his daughter and heartbreak over the loss of his beloved wife. He faces all of these new challenges with a wicked sense of humor. He will make you laugh. He will make you cry. And all the while, as a reader, you will find yourself secretly, lurkingly becoming his biggest cheerleader.
